Let’s say Buffalo escapes Tennessee in that playoff game

Assuming 62-7 still happens, this means we’re guaranteed either the Jaguars, Bills, or Colts in Super Bowl XXIV vs the Greatest Show on Turf

The Jaguars losed only three games all season (including the playoffs), all three against the Titans. With Brunell, Taylor, Stewart, Smith and McCardell on offense and the top ranked defense it would be a fun game in Atlanta.

Yep, I agree with Gary. Rams-Jags in the Super Bowl.

Without the Titans, I believe the Colts beat the Rams in the SB. Edgerrin James would have been MVP

That would have been nice. Peyton gets a ring in his second year like Big Ben, and the stigma is wiped away. Also, I wonder if he has more confidence when they play the Cheatriots down the line, and don't lose in 2003 and 04 to them.

Its crazy how close that whole season all came to being a totally different Super Bowl. Once you start really looking close that Rams team was not an invincible juggernaut, they were very beatable. There were so many twist of fate things happening that led us to that Super Bowl that would have been totally different with just small changes in events happening that year. I know a lot of people think this is bat shit crazy but I feel like Detroit would have made a run to the NFCCG had Barry played one more year that season. Sounds wild on the surface but I feel like I can build a strong case that it was not only possible but likely. Also think had Washington not bobbled that game winning field goal against Tampa in the wild card game that changes everything in those playoffs going forward. The music city miracle is another big one. The blizzard that rolled into Pittsburgh and iced that Panthers offense and led to them losing and missing the playoffs when they had the hottest offense in the NFL the last few weeks of the season. You could go further with what if the Trent Green injury doesn't happen, or even if the Browns take Kurt Warner in the expansion draft when they had the chance. All of the tiny little butterfly effects that happened to shape that season are fascinating.

I agree with you on the Warner to Browns thing. I think that Jim Thomas (from the St. Louis Post Dispatch) recommended Warner to Tony Grossi (from the Cleveland Plain Dealer) before the expansion draft. He told Tony that Kurt had a good arm.

Also, at the :49 mark of this video, it talks about two more what ifs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJmM085mBeg

For one, Warner was going to try out with the Bears in 1997 but suffered a spider bite on his right arm during his honeymoon.

Then, after the 1998 season, it was announced that Dave McGinnis was going to become Bears coach. However, he didn't sign a contract with them when it was announced. He looked over the contract with his agent, and it was a low ball offer, so he turned down the job.

If Dave would have went to Chicago, Mike Martz would have been his OC.
