Yes ... its todays game. Other backs have been penalized for the same thing. Will Scattebo's hammy be okay?

Absolutely ridiculous.
Not only do I no longer know what a catch is but I don't even know how to run with the ball.

To extend Jack Lambert's comment, they should all be wearing dresses.
Pink, frilly ones... tutus... the refs and Roger Goodell, too.
Roger Goodell, especially.

One of the comments - If that's a penalty, then by comparison Earl Campbell would have been called for attempted murder.

I can remember once--this would've been 1967 or '68---when Raiders FB Hewritt Dixon got flagged for unnecessary roughness for giving a forearm shiver to a defender as he ran for a nice gain. And that was almost 60 years ago.

Larry Csonka was also given a penalty in a game at Buffalo.

Walter Payton lowered his head and shoulders into people better than anyone I had ever seen. Either he would have been outlawed or would have gained 2500 yards in a season. These defenders today would not tackle him.

Had he not died young, Walter today would very likely be experiencing the effects of his running style---CTE. That's what all those penalties and precautions and rule changes are about, protecting the players (and their families). I can understand it, but at the same time it ain't the same game we old-timers grew up with.
