Maybe it stems from the internet and AI since we have become use to getting data and results in seconds. It just seems like the Front Office is showing much less tolerance for losing under Nick Siriani than under Andy Reid. The Eagles were getting ready to fire Nick after 2023 just one year after losing the Super Bowl to Kansas City.
Let me summarize Andy Reid era quickly. Prior to the Super Bowl, the Eagles won 11 games in 2000 and 2001; 12 games in 2002 and 2003, and 13 games in the Super Bowl season of 2004. For the next eight years, the Eagles came no wear near their pre-Super Bowl records. Before the Super Bowl year, there was only one game that Philadelphia gave away-a 21 to 20 loss to the Arizona Cardinals at LFF in 2001. After that there were two and three games each year that should have been victories.
Items:
1 There were two losing seasons 6-10 in 2005 and 4-12 in 2012. There were decent starts and then a big collapse. In 2005, the Eagles were 4-2 but went 2-9 thereafter. In 2012, our boys looked great at 3-1 but had only one victory the remaining time.
2. In 2007 and 2011, we needed year winning streaks just to finish at .500. Eagles were 5-8 in 2007 and won three in a row; they were 4-8 in 2011 and won four in a row. As Andy Reid said after both seasons "You got to get it done sooner"
3. They made the playoffs in 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2010. In all years except 2010, Philadelphia needed year end winning streaks to make the playoffs.
2006-The Eagles were 5-6 and won five in a row to finish at 10-6. They defeated the New York Giants in the Wild Card Game before losing to the New Orleans Saints.
2008-The Eagles after 11 games were 5-5-1. Winning four of the last five put them in the playoffs with a 9-6-1 record. They defeated the Minnesota Vikings and the New York Giants in the first two rounds. The 33 to 25 loss at Arizona in the NFC Title game was my biggest disappointment ever as an Eagle fan.
2009-A 5-4 record after nine games put Philadelphia in a hole. Eagles won six in a row but left too many points off the board in three of them. They lost two lopsided games to the Dallas Cowboys-the last game of the season and the Wild Card Game.
2010-Lost Wild Card Game to the Green Bay Packers 21 to 16. David Ackers missed two field goals and there was a mix up on a two point conversion. On the game's last play the Packers intercepted a pass from Michael Vick in their own End Zone.
