Another NFL Top 10 Episode that was really good and is interesting to look back at is the worst Free Agent Signings list from 2010.

They came up with the following:

1. Anyone to the Redskins
2. Alvin Harper signs with Tampa Bay
3. The Raiders sign Larry Brown and Desmond Howard
4. Andre Rison signs with Cleveland
5. Neil O’Donnell signs with the Jets
6. David Boston signs with San Diego
7. Jeff Garcia signs with Cleveland
8. Ahman Green signs with Houston
9. Scott Mitchell signs with Detroit
10. Emmitt Smith signs with the Cardinals

Me personally, I think Boston should have been higher. He was signed for seven years and $47 million in 2003.

He proceeds to put up 880 yards in one season, then has a knee injury and never plays another game in San Diego after that.

Emmitt Smith may have ran for 256 yards with the 2003 Cardinals….. but in 2004 he ran for 927 yards, a more than respectable final season

Bryce Huff with the Eagles in 2024. I dont believe he played in their SB win?

Another terrible Eagle's signing was Nnandi Asomugha from the Raiders in 2011. He had been an All-Pro shutdown corner in Oakland but wasnt nearly the same player with Philly. This guy could-should have been in the HOF. Many still believe he has a case.

I remember a Redskins-Cowboys game I attended at AT&T Stadium and Washington had signed DT Albert Haynesworth to a very large contract, then he spent almost all the game on the bench.

Like SeahawksFever mentioned, anyone signing with the Redskins, expansion Browns and Raiders were fleecing the owners. Its amazing that players did that to Al Davis, like Larry Brown.

As one of the guys in that episode said, you could have a NFL Top 10 Worst Free Agent Signings of All Time show just for the Redskins alone. That'd be a fun list to put together. Haynesworth, Deion, Jeff George, Bruce Smith, Archuleta, Randle-El...

Thigpen always used to make this list.

Rison then gets to GB off waivers from JAX who got him after his release from CLE after one season and proceeds to perform like the highest paid receiver (which CLE made him originally) for GB and tears it up in SB XXXI.

Belichick and Rison never got along so how much do you think that the signing and fallout was on Belichick believing he could reign in Rison or was the writing on the wall (with both his time there and the impending move by Modell) and he was just spitballing as de facto GM?

He seemed to get along fine with Glanville for what it’s worth

Testaverde wasn’t a big downgrade from the Atlanta QB’s yet with the Falcons it didn’t seem to deter him
