2015 is the Obvious one! You can't possibly get 'cute' and say any other squad is.

Sure-enough more than not will place their other Super Bowl team, 2003, at #2. But there may be numerous here who don't.

Besides the two already mentioned, you have five others who won 11 games or more - two of them also making it to the NFCCG, just that neither made that next step as '03 & '15 did.

Its enough to make it a nice Top 5.

I think the other Panther QB was ordered to throw the game. That may be why he acted the way he did in the post-game interview.

As much as i am skeptical of conspiracy theories regarding fixing of games, there was definitely something fishy about that game. Specifically Newton's performance in it.

Yeah, I really felt confident of a Panthers World Championship going into SBL! Yes, I was aware of an Achilles heel with Carolina - their secondary barring Josh Norman. But the way they roasted the 13-3 Cards in the NFCCG, and Denver - to me - being a bit "lucky" that they avoided a full-strength Steeler team in the divisional round who they still barely beat (lost to them during the regular season). Yes, Broncos then beat the Pats which, of course, always says something. But I was really feeling Carolina going in. Cam Newton seemed SO en route!

And THEN...

A simple win (and especially he diving for the ball on that play), and it seems that everything/anything-under-the-sun would have turned out for the better. Even if Carolina doesn't win another, but Cam putting up more big seasons, and he likely may still be playing or perhaps just retired recently and there's at least a Canton debate!

How just one game/one moment can change everything. He could have been another one of those Esteemed National/Super Bowl Champions for-Life!

Just the same, until you can actually prove a..."fix", Denver DID deserve it at the very end of the day! They did what they did to that 17-1 juggernaut and - again - did beat New England to get there (swept them, actually). A Classic defensive effort with Wade Phillips finally getting that allusive Ring as a DC (giving Peytion another one)!

Yes, again, with Carolina crushing the 13-3 Cards, but maybe (just maybe) they allowing Seattle to close that huge gap in the previous week's divisional round may have served as a warning. Or maybe it was just Russell Wilson still being peak-Russell Wilson along with both those teams having quite a bigger rivalry during that time than will be remembered.

The game stunk from fishiness ... Too bad that Carolina defense had to walk off a loser.

They did, and I don't think the Panthers were the better team. However, when I think of how Newton acted afterward, it makes sense if he was told to throw the game.

For the record I don't buy it either. But I'll ditto the above post.

You'd think the Panthers under Capers would have made at least another playoff run, or two, after 1996. Instead, they go 7-9 again the following year and then totally belly-up in '98 and Dom was gone - enter Seifert.

If you would have said following '96 that the Panthers would make the SB in 2003, you'd think Dom would have still been their skipper. And you especially assume it'd be George himself on the sidelines for XXXVIII had you said it upon Seifert's hiring. A big shocker if you said SB in two years after they infamously finished 1-15.

Not the 'sexiest' SB-participant ever, but I'd have to place '03 at 2nd-best Panther squad ever. At least making it to the SB, and in overachieving fashion (at Rams, at Eagles), and then giving those Pats all they could handle ought to make it an easy-enough pick. Delhomme, that year, more 'bite' than '96 Kerry Collins.

3rd? I'll go with '96. The other remaining CCG-participant, 2005, I'll say 4th.

5th place FWIW? 12-4 one-and-done 2008, or 12-4 one-and-done 2013. Let's say the latter considering the Cam/Kuechly/Ron Rivera-factor; 15-1/SB soon to come.
