Is it one of the two other squads who made it to the AFCCG (1996, 2017)?
Could it be last year's 13-game winner? Or is the one-and-done at home enough to make it a 'nay' (I guess 28-3 at NE knocks that 12-4 installment of 2005 out as well)?
2007? Sweep Steelers, both games at Heinz, then give 16-0 Pats a challenge in Foxboro.
1997? Also 11-5, lost division by tie-breaker, getting blasted at Champ-to-be Denver no disgrace. Sure-enough the Family Feud/"survey says" #1 answer as to why the actual 42-17 result instead of a close loss was sheer revenge from last year.

'99 is, indeed, head-and-shoulders above the other candidates I mention. They're the only one that's championship-caliber with the others better-than-good, with moments of greatness, at best.
You really can't pick '96. Too mediocre all season long and really "shouldn't" have made the playoffs, getting quite lucky in that finale! But, yes, once they got in, they pull off those back-to-back road-over-achievements and didn't have a let-down in the years that followed - they arrived!
'97 & '98 were each better, better than just 'good'. They had big moments, but looking at it, their defenses were not so great statistically. Enter Dom Capers in '99 (as well as, yes, again with the easy schedule) and you know the rest.
Del Rio had that 12-4 season in 2005, but the aforementioned 28-3 one-and-done to the Pats quite the black-eye. Same thing, as also said, with last year's Jags.
Got to give it to Jack for 2007! With a QB who no casual-fan, nor some knowledgeable-fans, remembers what his name is, he propelled those Jags to 11-5, swept the Steelers both times at Heinz, and gave the unbeaten Pats all they could handle for most of the game (although they didn't force them to punt until the end of regulation). Not '2nd-best', but a notable at least. Maybe they're third place.

I'm taking 2017! 10-6 finish, un-sexy 1st Rd win at home vs mediocre Bills, but Jax already had their division wrapped-up with two weeks to go. And like ten years earlier, they sweep the Steelers both times at Heinz, only that their second win was a divisional round game instead of 1st Rd. And then they go to the AFCCG in Foxboro and give the Pats an even better game - quite better - than ten years earlier. The defense is all everyone remembers; or maybe future-SB-Champ, Fournette (yes, I remember Bortles).
