We have finalized the speakers lineup for this year's conference of the Western New York PFRA Chapter, being held in Springville, NY, Saturday, April 25.
We will have exhibits and an add-on which we should have confirmed within the next couple of weeks.
Our great roster of speakers includes
George Bozeka - PFRA President. George will give the annual State of the PFRA Address and update the group on the association's current activities which include the recent publication of the book on the 1964 Buffalo Bills, the forthcoming book on the 1976 Oakland Raiders, and possibly the site for the next PFRA National Convention.
Mark Kelso - Buffalo Bills alumnus. Mark will talk about his eight-year career with the Bills that included four Super Bowl appearances. Mark recorded 38 takeaways in his career, including 30 interceptions.
Todd Schmidt - Senior Producer at NFL Films. A 30-year veteran of NFLF, Todd will talk about his career including his favorite projects, and interesting characters he's met along the way.
Mike Richman - Washington Redskins historian. The preeminent authority on the Redskins, Mike will provide an in-depth look into the life and career of the team's controversial owner, George Preston Marshall.
Patti Murray - Former Buffalo Jills cheerleader. Patti is a founding member and longtime officer for the Buffalo Jills Alumni Association. It will be great to hear some stories of the Jills' glory days and learn more about the current activities of the alumni association, and maybe what the future holds for the squad! She also spent time as medical consultant for Joe DeLamielleure’s company “Joe D Bands,” overseeing effective use of elastic bands for exercise, strength, range of motion and injury prevention.
Bert Gambini - News Content Manager at the University at Buffalo and contributing writer for The Coffin Corner. Bert will go back to the very beginning of American football to assess the legend of the game's 19th century origin and proposes that the first intercollegiate game is one not previously considered for that distinction.
John Steffenhagen - Rochester Jeffersons historian. John will discuss his book on the Jeffersons and his great-grandfather, Leo Lyons. He will provide an update on his efforts toward getting greater recognition for Leo in the City of Rochester, and on-going efforts to see him enshrined or recognized by the Pro Football Hall of Fame in a meaningful way.
