Any recent NFL TV broadcast footage discoveries?

Post by NFL500 »

Hello,
I've been away from this forum for several years but my love of NFL football hasn't diminished one bit.

In 2017 I met my goal of attending 500 games, all played on grass. What can I say? I'm a purist.

Since then, I've published a book about my NFL travels, appropriately titled "The Grass Is Always Greener." It's available via Amazon if anyone wants to check it out.

I'm still going to NFL games, though at a slower pace. Super Bowl LX will be #614. My new goal permits me to be more choosy. I'm now trying to see each NFL team play at least 25 games on grass. I've reached that mark with 16 teams, half the league. After Super Bowl LX I'll need just 105 more to get the rest to 25.

Besides going to NFL games, I'm also very interested in the history of pro football, especially its TV heritage in the early years of the Super Bowl era.

Since I last was active on this forum, I've seen the discovery of footage related to my favorite player Bob Griese: NBC coverage of his 6 passing TDs on Thanksgiving Day in 1977 and of the 1978 Dolphins-Chargers game, the only time I got to see my idol play in person.

I've also seen broadcast footage surface of most of CBS' telecast of Super Bowl IV, the Rams-Cowboys 1973 divisional playoff game, and highlights of the 1974 NFC Championship Game between the Rams and Vikings. That was really a nice surprise. I'd given up hope any of that game would be found.

Anyone know of other recent discoveries when it comes to old pre-1980 NFL telecasts, especially postseason ones?

Sorry for the lengthy post. I just had a lot to say after so many years away. I promise future posts won't be anywhere near so wordy. Best wishes!
