1958 & 1959 Redskins broke Steelers' Streaks

1958-Winners of five consecutive games, the Pittsburgh Steelers came into Griffith Stadium to play the Washington Redskins. Heavily favored, Pittsburgh trailed 14 to 0 at halftime. They came back to get two second half touchdowns for a 14-14 tie. The Redskins stopped the winning streak. On national television, the Steelers defeated the Chicago Cardinals 38 to 21 on the season finale at Pitt Stadium. The Steelers, starting the season 1-4, went seven games without a loss. Their 7-4-1 record was 1 1/2 behind the first place Giants.
1959-Hopes for a great season melted as Pittsburgh finished at 6-5-1. The first two games of 1959 were at Forbes Field. The Steelers defeated the Cleveland Browns in the first game 17 to 7. The second week saw the Washington Redskins build up a 16 to 0 halftime lead. The Steelers fought back in the second half but lost 23 to 17.
