2024 Divisional Playoffs

Post by Brian wolf »

The two best weeks of the entire NFL season, starting with the divisional round. Which players will step up and help their teams to the championship games? Will the favorites continue to advance?

The question is who (if) will be the upset. TJ said they is almost always an upset. I have not personally tracked that, but let's go with it. One upset --- who?

To me Bills and Ravens is a toss up, so either winning would not be surprise.

Can Texans beat the Chiefs?

I think Detroit will hang 35+ points on Washington; the only question is can they contain Daniels? They've had big problems with mobile QBs all along. The best defense is to just control the ball and keep the guy on the bench. Having Montgomery back in the backfield with Gibbs certainly helps along those lines.

They're predicting snow/low temps at Philadelphia for tomorrow's game, which will hurt Rams more than Eagles. Wouldn't be surprised to see Barkley have a huge game, churning out 150 yards in the slop.

Prediction: Philadelphia @ Detroit next week.

As far as Houston-KC, the Chiefs just know how to win. That's the mark of a championship team. Call it luck, whatever.

Best game of the weekend, I'm taking Bills over Lamar & Co.in a shootout.

Prediction: Buffalo @ KC next week.

Super Bowl, as I've been saying for months, Lions and Chiefs. Although like most fans I'd prefer Lions-Buffalo or at least ABC (Anyone But Chiefs). Love to see some team who hasn't hoisted the Lombardi yet finally do so. If not Detroit, then Buffalo.

Oh, I guess I should mention that my predictions usually suck, as I've proved time and again on this board. Still, a stopped clock and all that.....

Good, tight first half but its freaking mind-boggling how teams continue to leave Travis Kelce uncovered in these playoff games?
A 49 yrd catch and run--only his longest reception of the year--can the Texans put the clamps on him? Will Anderson came to play today, despite a phantom roughing the passer penalty.

Yep, after running the ball easily for the game, the Texans go back to pass and crumble against the KC pass rush with only 10 minutes left. Can the Texans get back to a ball control drive with 8:30 left?

Great game for Karlaftis, though Shultz blocked him like a matador. Due to the safety, bettors taking the Texans are breathing a sigh of relief.

Texans had their chances with Hutchinson having a surprisingly good game but like other teams, if you dont hit or cover Kelce off the line of scrimmage, he will kill you. Lets hope the next team doesnt make that mistake ... whatever.

Wow ... will the second half be as explosive as the first half?
Terrible defense by both teams and Detroit is very shaky. Goff took the hardest hit on his interception that I have seen a QB take this year. Spectacular plays and 52 points! Commanders forcing turnovers though ...

Jeezus. Most combined points ever in a postseason game in the 2Q---and how many games are we talking about?

It's halftime now. Entertaining as hell. The Lions will get their 35 points, maybe more, but it doesn't help when the D allows 49 or 56.

Jayden is impressive, smooth as silk and unrattled. And Goff is shaky as hell. That lost fumble on 3rd & 1 at about the 12, an empty backfield when they should've just run Gibbs a couple times turned what should've been a 14-3 Lions lead to a 10-7 Wash lead---a 14-pt turnaround.

Commanders should have it now. Turnovers and more defensive injuries have done in the Lions. The first 15-2 team to lose in the playoffs. That fumble you mentioned John, turned the game around but it wasnt like the Lions could stop their offense.
