Clark Kent Wild Card Weekend
With the NFL no longer using the "Super Wild Card Weekend" moniker, I decided to go sarcastic anyway, with fans preparing for three days of football. It gets exciting now, with the best teams finding ways to advance. I always hope for close, competitive games but we will see?
--Texans start slowly but advance, taking advantage of Justin Herbert interceptions. The Chargers had early momentum but couldnt build on a 6-0 lead. Surprised Harbaugh didnt run the ball more.
--Ravens run right through the Steelers, who have no-one step up on offense or defense. Where has this defense been? It hasnt been this bad since Big Ben retired. 310 yards given up in the first half?
Will the Steelers bring Wilson back? Move on from Pickens and Harris? Surprised the team didnt run the ball more, even when down, 21-0? Tomlin suffers another beatdown in postseason, their sixth loss in a row.

I watched some of the Chargers-Texans game on Nick just for the helluva it. Since I try not to take too many things too seriously, even the NFL, I kinda enjoyed the graphics and commentary. SpongeBob SquarePants asking if the pass was "intercepterated" was just the kind of question my own kids might've asked when they were small. I guess the NFL must be thinking its core audience is skewing old so it's trying to reach kids at an early age. Hey, soon they'll be full-fledged fans, chugging beer and gambling away their paychecks!

Yep, I lost my bet on the Steelers last night. I had also predicted them to go to the SB before the season. I havent watched games on Prime but Herbstreit was right in the first half, the Steelers showed no fire or bulldog mentality. He was also critical of Russell Wilson, who he felt doesnt go through his passing progressions enough and checks down too soon, but when youre a shorter QB and not rolling out more, those things tend to happen.
Early before the season, I questioned whether the Bills would keep McDermott if they didnt get to another AFC Championship game. Like Tomlin, you cant, or shouldnt replace a winning coach but if the Broncos upset the Bills today--and they shouldnt--you still have to wonder if he and Tomlin have peaked for their teams? How long does a coach stay if he cant meet a certain standard of excellence or fan expectations? Even Belichick got let go, once he couldnt replace Brady fast enough ...

Another ho-hum wild card game. Can the Bills get by the Ravens at home next week? The Broncos defense disappointed today.

Packers finally made it a game but turnovers did them in. Eagles were more physical on both sides of the ball. Should be an interesting game in Philly next week.

Probably just as well for the Packers. With their injuries, they’re would have had to sign Phil Epps and Aundra Thompson for another playoff game.

The AFCs final 4 is identical to last year. I wonder when the last time that happened in a conference divisional round.

Finally, a great game tonight and first upset. I will watch on nfl-video.com, since I couldnt see the game. Didnt realize this was the first playoff win by a Washington team since 2005/06. The Lions will face the Commanders next week. Could the Vikings go to Philly?

Packers defense did better than I thought physically. I didn't think they could mount a pass rush but they held their own on defense. Just too many injuries and turnovers.Brian wolf wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 10:45 pm Packers finally made it a game but turnovers did them in. Eagles were more physical on both sides of the ball. The Texans are nothing more then a waste of a divisional playoff spot
Thanks a lot Chargers
Now we have to pretend Stroud is still allegedly good
