2004 Pittsburgh Steelers
The three games below were all at Heinz Field.
Before Week 6 the Steelers were 5-1 and the New England Patriots were 6-0. The Steelers defeated the Patriots 34 to 20. The next week the Philadelphia Eagles came to Pittsburgh with a 7-0 record. Pittsburgh had a real easy time handling the Eagles 27 to 3. New England defeated Pittsburgh in the AFC Title game 41 to 27.
2008 Philadelphia Eagles
The first two games were at Lincoln Financial Field and the NFC Title Game at Arizona.
Before Week 3 Pittsburgh had won their first two games. The Eagles had just lost to the Dallas Cowboys and were 1-1. With a great defensive effort, Philadelphia defeated the Steelers 15 to 6. On Thanksgiving Night the Arizona Cardinals were 7-4 and the Eagles were 5-5-1. The Birds defeated the Arizona Cardinals 48 to 20. Arizona won the NFC Title Game 32 to 25 over the Eagles.
The Eagles defeated both teams that wound up in the Super Bowl but lost the NFC Title game. Winning during the season is one thing. Winning in the playoffs another.
