what is the definition of a 2-way player?
JohnTurney wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 11:54 pmLike conace21 said --- what is the definition of a 2-way player?
He mentioned
Someone who did it on a fairly often bases?
Or just do it in a single game?
Patrick Ricard is the most recent of the ones for whom it was a "thing" he
played a lot of snaps both ways.
Patrick Peterson player a couple of games on offense his first couple of years
but again --- 2 games?
Vrabel did it in goaline--was their TE ... LB on D.
There have been other DL in as a fullback like the Fridge did
I don't think Edelman did it in regular season but as you point out
did in the playoffs -- but really no a usually "thing"
Troy Brown? Probably did it the most, maybe most snaps on D and O
but don't know if it was more than Picard.
Otehrs have been some I missed - conace21 mentioned the
guys who maybe had a role in short-yardage or goalline
but several of those. And Jones did it some, as he mentioned
maybe he's most recent of 18 snaps is enough?
Could 1996 Deion Sanders who had 67 targets as a receiver in addition to his season as a cornerback (one that earned him a first team all pro) be an example of playing both ways for a bit?JohnTurney wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 11:54 pmwhat is the definition of a 2-way player?

Mike Williams played 1 defensive snap and got and INT in a game he caught passes--
but IMO that's not really a two-way player. It's more like Gronk or Moss playing defense on Hail Mary
defensive play.

If those snap counts were in 1 game that would fit the bill imo.conace21 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 11:31 pm That might be it, depending on your definition. Several defensive players have come in on goal line offense, like J.J. Watt and Dontari Poe. Two defensive backs saw action in the regular offense, but very little.
Marcus Jones saw 18 offensive snaps for the 2022 Patriots, and caught 4 passed for 69 yards and a touchdown.
Adoree' Jackson only saw 12 snaps on offense for the 2017 Titans. On those 12 snaps, he had 5 carries for 55 yards.
