If asked to pick All-pro for 1960 -- Wide Receivers (include both flankers and split ends)

WHo would your first team be?
Second-team?
Honorable mentions?

I base on stats, maybe judding there is some anti-AFL bias, bu also some team success --- you know, how many do it ..
to vary degrees

My first draft is fast = blue, 2nd-red, honorable mentions yellow

Powell vs Groman --- hard choice ... Groman goot team ... Powell, based on media reports -- was "terrific" also played in NY ...
Hard to pick. If I did it again .. .might be different

Anyone have their own? What you would do...

Back in the day i did a receiving chart --- running and receiving (all by hand, no PFR--Neft and Cohen was used)
It's a stat that gives a score for 4 categories based on league leader so if league leader had 100 catches
and someone had 75 then the score for that would be .75..then done for Rec, Tds, Y/C and TDs (I have messed with some different stuff)
and then did it so every year the league leader is 100 ... to account for era. The best is 1960 is the best in 2021 --- even though the
numbers in 2021 huge vs 1960s .

Anyway, you get it ... here in 1960

I hope you looked at the new senior preliminary list by the HOF, John. The list includes 183 players with many doozies. Unfortunately, names like Brito, Matheson, Banducci, Benton, Brodie, Hadl, JR Smith, Katcavage and Blair weren't on it, amongst others ...

I understand Robert. John mentions 60s receivers on this thread but Hennigan, Retzlaff, Jerry Smith and Lionel Taylor weren't on the preliminary list.

Yeah. Saw it. Was out in Jul but on hold for a month while changes were being made. Next year most of those names will be on the prelim.

Will work on that soon, Robert. Probably will just show it on zone blitz, since most I list won't get down to a cut of of 15.

Still disappointed that certain players aren't getting their due. We will see if any super-seniors even make the top 25 much less the top 3. Even then, we have to hope that regular voters elect them.
An owner or coach will get consideration over unknown players.

Getting back to Turney's list of receivers, people will criticize the AFL list but I still like to see receivers with great TDs-to-receptions ratios and McDonald, who helped Philly win it all, would get strong consideration.

I would vote Sonny Randle for 1st Team all-pro along with Raymond Berry. Its a combination of having seen footage of early AFL defenses and Randle being able to lead both the AFL & NFL in TD receptions while catching passes from King Hill and John Roach.
