1960 Week I Redskins at Colts

ince the Steelers played on Saturday night, viewers saw the above game on the NBC affiliate on Sunday. These two teams, until 1967, played an interconference game each year with alternate home and away setups. The Redskins defeated the Colts 27 to 24 in 1959 in that year’s biggest upset. The Colts were 9-3 and won the NFL Title Game while the Redskins were 3-9 in last place in the East.

The Colts gave up just 113 yards, nine first downs, and intercepted two passes- one each for Don Shinnick and Andy Nelson. John Unitas completed 17 of 35 passes for 232 yards and a touchdown. Raymond Berry caught four passes for 60 yards. Lenny Moore carried for 56 yards and a touchdown.
