1960 Saturday Night Week 1 Steelers at Cowboys

his first game was a real shoot out. Pittsburgh came from a 14 to 0 and 21 to 7 deficit to win. Bobby Layne went 16 of 25 passes for 288 yards and four touchdowns. From the pass option play, Tom Tracy threw for a 70 yard touchdown. For the Cowboys, Eddie LeBaron completed 15 of 28 passes for 345 yards for three touchdowns and three interceptions.

Tom Tracy caught four passes for 82 yards and one touchdown; Preston Carpenter caught five passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns; Buddy Dial caught two passes for one 84 yards and one touchdown; and Jimmy Orr caught three passes for 59 yards and one touchdown.

Here are the receiving details for Dallas: Frank Clark caught two passes for 75 yards; Jim Doran caught four passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns; and Fred Dugan caught three passes for 63 yards and one touchdown.

Pittsburgh had 475 yards and Dallas had 395 yards. Pittsburgh had three interceptions-one each for Dean Derby, Bert Rechichar, and Lowell Wren.
