2023 season, Week 8 preview

Post by racepug »

DAL vs. the LAR - the N.F.C. entry based in TX coming off of a bye going up against a Rams team that feels it was hard done by in the loss to PIT last Sunday. Which team prevails?

G.B. vs. MIN - the Packers coming off of a horrible loss (to DEN) while MIN is basking in the afterglow of its win over the 49ers. Based on most recent results I have to go with the Vikings in this one (even though, in general, I truly do NOT believe that MIN is anything special {to say the least}).

MIA vs. N.E. - who believes that N.E. can come up with a 2nd upset in a row? (I don't)

the NYG vs. the NYJ - Los Gigantes coming in off of a road win vs. division rivals WAS; the Jets coming in off of a bye. Should be a good "battle for NYC bragging rights" at MetLife.

PIT vs. JAX - the 'Stillers' came away with their first-ever (regular season) road win over the Rams last Sunday (albeit with maybe a little help from the zebras). JAX continues its ascendancy under Doug Pederson so this should be a good game in the Steel City.

WAS vs. PHI - the Commanders couldn't beat Los Gigantes at home last Sunday. What chance do they have against the defending conference champions?

SEA vs. CLE - the Seahawks are going "old school" with their uniforms today. Can they beat the Browns (and their impressive "D")? Will the Browns get a bunch of favorable calls (as they have the last couple of weeks)?

ARZ vs. BAL - there wouldn't seem to be much hope for the Cardinals in this one but they upset the N.F.C. entry based in TX a few weeks ago. Can they pull another upset, this time against Lamar Jackson & Co.?

DEN vs. K.C. - 16 wins in a row (the N.F.L. record: 20 straight by MIA over BUF during the entire decade of the '70s) and counting for the Chiefs in this series. Can the Broncos "stop the bleeding" against the Chiefs today?

SFO vs. CIN - Oooooooooooooo - a good one in Santa Clara! The 49ers trying to recover from 2 straight losses while the Bengals need a win to keep pace with ALL of their division rivals. This is one that I'll definitely be keeping an eye on.

the LAC vs. CHI – Can "Da Bears" do to the (underachieving) Chargers what they did to the (listless) Raiders last Sunday? I have my doubts.

DET vs. the LVR – Not sure how the Raiders got a prime time slot this season, to be honest. I'll be surprised if da Raaaayyyydaaahhhs put up much of a fight on Monday night.

Yep, as the season moves along, you never know which teams will show up and play football and which teams will lay down, with key players not being part of game plans or even playing with pain. I distrust and shake my head over team coaching more than I ever have in my 44 years of watching NFL football. No wonder I never get excited till postseason, where one team, favored or not, will emerge and silence critics till the following season.

Bettors taking the Ravens had to watch the Cardinals recover an onside kick, that should have been easily fielded by the Ravens, for a last second FG that cost them money.

In cool throwback Oiler uniforms, Levis for the Titans looked like Chris Chandler slinging the ball through the Falcon's secondary. Hopefully this QB will stay healthy for his career.

Injury or not, will a team try to convince Cousins to come to their team in a trade and prepare for next season? Either way, he has probably played his last game as a Viking.

Parlays were wiped out due to the Broncos upset over KC. The Niners are reeling and did Purdy take another concussion today?
Lots of injured QBs today ...
