Week 12-The Giants defeated the Cleveland Browns 13 to 10. In a blizzard, Pat Summerall booted a 50 yard field goal with about two minutes left in the game. Both New York and Cleveland finished at 9-3 forcing a playoff the following week.

In the Eastern Conference Playoff, New York was the home team since they defeated the Browns in both regular season games. The Giants won the playoff 10 to 0 in arguably the best defensive showing ever in Post Season play

The NFL Championship many say was the greatest game ever played. Baltimore won in overtime 23 to17. There was a broadcasting anomaly in those days. CBS televised all NFL games on a regional basis. There were three National Telecasts-on Thanksgiving at Detroit and the Saturdays of 11th and 12th week of the year. However, the NFL negotiated the Championship Game separately and awarded it to NBC.

Without Pat Summerall's 49-yard FG to beat the Browns in the last game of the 1958 season, the 1958 NFL Championship game would have been the Colts against the Browns in Cleveland.
