70 Points in a Game

As I'm sure most of you already know, today the Dolphins beat the Broncos 70-20, the first time a team broke 70 since the Redskins beat the Giants 72-41 in 1966. I'd be interested in hearing the group's thoughts and stories about 70, so I'm putting a quarter in the jukebox and waiting to hear the music!

Great music for RBs scoring 8 TDs and your QB having more TD passes than incompletions. Maybe bet on Denver next week? haha

These Dolphins are good but could they compete against those '66 'Skins that set the record? [Insert tongue-in-cheek emoji here]

Mister Turney had an excellent article about the records broken today (amongst other historical perspective) here:
https://nflfootballjournal.blogspot.com ... oncos.html

Amongst other tidbits, this was the third game of 70 or more points.
It was the first in which the offense scored 10 TDs.
Jason Sanders tied the record for most XPs made in a game.

I heard the result of the Dolphins scoring 70 while I was watching the 1st half of the Chiefs-Bears game. The Chiefs OC is ex-Bear HC Matt Nagy, and for a time I honestly thought that the Chiefs were going to top 70 as well. They were up like 34-0 at half and continued passing with Mahomes early in the 2nd half and actually had the game at 41-0 early in the 3rd quarter. I thought Nagy had revenge on his mind and was going to score as much as possible on the hapless Bears, but Andy Reid called off the dogs and brought in the 'cooler' Blaine Gabbert, who effectively did not score another point.

Though Denver quit playing defense, I felt good for Mostert who has speed but could never stay healthy. Hopefully he gets his first 1000 yrd season this year. Had he gotten more than 12 carries for SF in the 2019/20 SB, the Niners might have won ...

Also threw an int on his first pass.

My only thought is that this Mike McDaniel seems like one of those guys, who think the first 90 years of the NFL never happened and PFF created the Big Bang. Not an iota of respect or admiration for football history in him. I'm certain all of us here would've kicked the field goal. Not one of us!!!
