Lamar Lundy (1957-69)
The Rams Fearsome Foursome has two members in the Hall of Fame and Roger Brown is in the Hall of the Very Good. I never saw him play, but does Lamar Lundy have a case for the Hall of the Very Good?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Not in my opinion ... he's a Hall of Good. I think there are quite a few DEs that have better HOVG cases. His notation, what does give him a set-apart is he was a TE early on ... but other may see it differently but to me, HOVG is a near-HOFer ... a close but to cigar type. I don't think Lundy meets that,Halas Hall wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2023 9:26 am The Rams Fearsome Foursome has two members in the Hall of Fame and Roger Brown is in the Hall of the Very Good. The Hall of Good---I love that. We should also vote on a Hall of OK, and a Hall of Meh.
Anyway, Lundy obviously had some great hands and knew what to do with the ball---he had 3 picks in his career and returned each one for a TD.
He had 6 TD as a receiver.

let's say a bunch of us got together to draft a 33-man squad ... and you know, things get thin ... Lundy would be a solid choice.RichardBak wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 7:13 pm Anyway, Lundy obviously had some great hands and knew what to do with the ball---he had 3 picks in his career and returned each one for a TD.

A good DE, a good TE, could also play DT.
He is only list for modern two-way players ... by modern I mean since two-platoons ... he's not at the top like Benarik or Connor or Pihos
but someone with a mention ... just, you know, good.

All except Smith are already in the HOVG. Smith isn't eligible yet.JohnTurney wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 1:49 amquite a lot ...usually suspects ... Katcavage, Brito, Greenwood, Neil Smith and on and on .

I agree about Lundy in that he is not quite HOVG. He was a decent complimentary player though.
