1968 Western Conference Playoff-Raiders defeat Chiefs 41 to 6
With both the Raiders and Chiefs sporting 12-2 records, the playoff game was at Oakland. Daryle Lamonica pitched three touchdown passes in the first quarter-24 yards to Fred Biletnikoff, 23 yards to Warren Wells, and 44 yards to Biletnikoff.
Despite trailing 21 to 0 at the start of the second quarter, the Chiefs came back but two drives stalled inside the Oakland five yard line. The Chiefs settled for a pair of field goals with Jan Stenerud kicking from ten and eight yards. Down by three touchdowns, Hank Stram should not have been conservative. Just after these field goals, Lamonica threw a 54 yard touchdown pass to Fred Biletnikoff. Halftime score was 28 to 6.
In addition, Len Dawson had four interceptions; one each for Dan Connors, Willie Brown, Jerry Hopkins, and Nemiah Wilson. Turnovers are always critical and this game was no exception. After a scoreless third quarter, Lamonica fired a 41 yard touchdown pass to Biletnikoff. George Blanda kicked two 42 yard field goals, giving Oakland a 41 to 6 victory.
Len Dawson completed 17 of 36 passes for 253 yards; Otis Taylor caught four passes for 117 yards and Gloster Ricardson caught three passes 253 yards. The running game was non-existent.
