How would the 1979-1982 Cowboys have fared in those SB's

Post by sheajets »

The Dallas Cowboys went to three straight NFC Title Games between 1979-1982, but lost each time. In Philadelphia the game was tied at the half before Philly ran away with it. Dwight Clark's catch...a very competitive game that Dallas could've very easily won. Redskins the following year...a game that Dallas only trailed by 4 going into the 4th quarter.

How would those Cowboy teams fared in the Super Bowl had they made it? Cowboys-Raiders, Cowboys-Bengals, Cowboys-Dolphins

I've always enjoyed watching highlights of those teams on youtube...the very end of the brilliant Landry run. I've always felt they should've at least won a 3rd Super Bowl somewhere between 1966-1985.

The Cowboys beat the Raiders during the 1980 season but the Raiders defense was better by SB time. Probably another defensive game in the SB but I feel the Boys would have won again, with the creative blitzing they had to go with a motivated front four ... Would White have stepped up however?

I feel Dallas was still better than the Bengals in 1981 but Ken Anderson would have played better against them than the Niners. The team with the fewest turnovers would have won but it also probably would have been a close game.

Miami had played Dallas in 1981 and should have beaten them so Bill Arnsparger's defense would have been very tough against the Cowboys passing offense in the 82/83 SB but could they have stopped Dorsett? If he doesnt fumble, he could exploit their defense ...
