Because of the Body Bag Game a few weeks earlier , this home game with the New York Giants does not get the deserved attention.  The Giants, with a 10-0 record, came in town to play the Eagles.  Philadelphia was 6-4.  The Eagles outgained the Giants in yardage 405 to 327.  The difference was the running of Randall Cunningham; this enabled the Eagles to burn time off the clock.  In all, Cunningham ran nine times for 66 yards and one touchdown.  Reggie White and company shut down New York entirely in the second half.

The Eagles led 14 to 13 at halftime due to the Giants missing an extra point. In the third quarter, Philadelphia ended a mini-drive with a 37 yard field goal from Roger Ruzak.  Early in the last quarter,  the Eagles scored two touchdowns in a 40 second span.  Randall Cunningham threw a touchdown pass to Calvin Williams for a 24 to 13 lead.  On the first play after the kickoff, Reggie White deflected a pass that Byron Evans caught and returned 24 yards for a touchdown.  The Eagles won 24 to 13.  They ended the Giants 10 game winning streak and defeated the eventual Super Bowl Champion.  This was Buddy Ryan's biggest victory in his five years in Philadelphia.
