Big Eagles Comebacks

Post by LeonardRachiele »

There is a film on the Eagles Web site talking about great comebacks in games.  The guy had to limit his number to five  so he could not cover everything.   I want to suggest the following games.

1. 1989 at Washington. The  Redskins led by 20 points twice.  20 to 0 and 27 to 7.  The Eagles won behind the great passing of Randall Cunningham 42 to 37.

2.1991

at Cleveland. The Browns led 23 to 0 after the first quarter and 30 to 17 at halftime.  Jim McMahon had a great game.  Cleveland did nothing in the second half.  Philadelphia  won 32 to 30.

Washington at home in the final week.  The Redskins led 19 to 7 in the fourth quarter.  Jeff Kemp through two touchdown passes.  Roger Rusek kicked the game winning field goal.   The Eagles defense had three sacks on Mark Rypien.  The Redskins had allowed only five sacks in the previous 15 games.  One of only two losses the Redskins had in 1991.

1993 at New York Jets.  The Jets led 21 to 0 in the second quarter and 28 to 14 in the third.  Randall Cunningham was lost for the season. Eric Allen returned an interception 94 yards for a touchdown.  The Eagles won 35 to 30.

1995  Arizona at home in the 15th game.  The Cardinals led 17 to 0 in the second quarter.  Derrick Witherspoon returned a kickoff for a touchdown just before halftime.  Eagles won 24 to 23.
