Great issue from the various writers who contributed. The 1974 Players Strike helped get the ball rolling for better conditions and pay but it didnt help that players like Curtis, Stabler, Biletnikoff and others reported to training camp. Had the players gotten Marvin Miller to represent them earlier, like union representative Bernie Parrish tried to do, they might have won more victories even sooner but its still amazing to me the pittance that players got for preseason games. Frickin high way robbery, not to mention the injuries that went along with these games!

There's a story where Jets star Don Maynard dropped a pass during a preseason game and Jets coach Weeb Ewbank got on him about his lack of effort and without blinking an eye, Maynard looked at Weeb and said "what do you expect for 50 dollars a game". Namath nearby, couldnt believe it.
Thanks Joe Zagorski ...

I will always believe the 1967 Rams got shafted having to play against the Packers in Milwaukee however ...
