Training Camp Player Limits?

What year did they put in a limit on how many players you could bring to training camp?
I remember a time when teams with a lesser record would bring more than 100 players into camp (mostly undrafted free agents--I guess they were hoping to find an overlooked gem).

They can never have more than 90 players on the roster and, AFAIK, they're the only players who can be in training camp.

Thanks, but I'm trying to find out what YEAR that rule started to be enforced.

The off-season roster limit was originally imposed in 1989. It was set at 80 players. That was increased to 90 in the 2011 CBA.
