I'm sad to see him go but I'm not really all that surprised. I wish he weren't going to DEN but it is what it is. The player I'd LOVE to see the Seahawks get to replace him is DeShaun Watson but I don't know if that's doable at this point. Either way my expectations for the 'hawks just went down considerably and they weren't very high to begin with right now. All I can say about him being in DEN is that I hope he doesn't get seriously hurt. I have nothing else.

I fully expect the Seahawks to have a new head coach/GM in place by the beginning of the 2025 season (their 50th!) if not sooner.

Yeah, they really haven't done much (in the playoffs, anyway) since 2014. It HAS been disappointing but it's Seattle - we're used to "lightning in a bottle" around here.

I think that's true up until the point they lost Chancellor, Sherman, and Earl Thomas. Once those guys were gone the Seahawks' "D" degraded considerably.

Honestly, they should have fired Carroll and Schneider (and traded Wilson). Carroll should have paid for the sin of not giving the ball to Beastmode at the earliest possible time (not after 2015 and 16 when they made the playoffs, but 17 when they missed).

For myself and all my Seahawks fans friends in Western WA, losing Wagner got more of a reaction than losing Wilson.

Cutting Bobby Wagner and trading Russell Wilson, the last two members of the Super Bowl XLVIII winning team, on the same day...

This trade, IMO, has a really good chance to work out well for both teams. The trade was costly to Denver but getting a sure-fire quarterback like Russell Wilson is worth it. They likely bought themselves a 3-4 year window with this deal. The Seahawks lose the face of the franchise and their greatest quarterback ever, but they got a good return.

Two first-round picks and two second-round picks provide a really good place for Seattle to start rebuilding. Noah Fant and Shelby Harris are good players who should contribute. If things turn out well in the draft, this trade might turn out very well for the Seahawks.

I guess the second part of this though is why didn't they trade Bobby Wagner instead of flat-out releasing him? Did he have a no-trade clause that made it impossible? That's a real headscratcher because they could have gotten at least a good draft pick or two for him. He will make an immediate impact on whatever team signs him.
