Oldest team to play all its games in the same city?
I’ve been trying to figure out which team is the oldest to play all its games in the same city, uninterrupted since their inception. But…
#1 Cardinals - no explanation necessary
#2 Bears - Decatur and Chicago
#3 Packers - Green Bay and Milwaukee
#4 Giants - NY and NJ
#5 Lions - Portsmouth and Pontiac/Detroit
#6 Redskins - Boston and Washington
#7 Steelers & #8 Eagles - Phil/Pitt (played games in the other’s stadium)
#9 Rams - no explanation necessary
#10 Browns - 3 years not in the league
So, which team is the oldest to fulfill my criteria?

Are we looking for the same metro area or within that city's boundaries? If just the metro area I think Washington would be the answer. My first thought was the Giants but their 1974(?) season playing at Yale would break their streak.

The Redskins' origins in Boston take them out of the running, if I understand the OP correctly.
If you're strict about home games being played in the city proper (no suburbs), I think Denver is it.

Aha. I missed the since their inception part. It has to be the Broncos then.Citizen wrote:The Redskins' origins in Boston take them out of the running, if I understand the OP correctly..

The Cardinals moved around a few times. Chicago to St. Louis to Phoenix. That wouldn't be a continuous uninterrupted streak.
Same for the Rams, LA to St. Louis, back to LA.
Why wouldn't it be the Bears?
Browns have been for a long time too, since 1950.

The Bears played several games in Evanston, and started in Decatur.

What about Buffalo?
Also a side question what if the team is named after a state but played in various locations in the state? Just getting into the weeds.

Denver was the visiting team in their 1 London game and has not played in Mexico.
