Yes! And so cool that it happened on Christmas. Maybe it's an omen of better days ahead for all of us in 2021.

I am totally not shocked that another 6 TD game has happened in this era of amped up offense and high scoring. A 7 TD game isn't out of the question someday. What IS surprising is that Kamara's scores all came rushing.

Agreed. Most surprising to me is that someone hasn't tossed 8 (or even 9) TD passes in a game yet. Lamonica once tossed 6 TDP in the first half (vs. Buffalo, I think), and that was back in the '60s.

But the "most recent" player to do it came in good ol' 1965. Got something against the oldsters?

I remember Shaun Alexander had a game against Minnesota where he scored 5 total TDs (4 rushing, 1 receiving) in the first half.

Agreed. Most surprising to me is that someone hasn't tossed 8 (or even 9) TD passes in a game yet. Lamonica once tossed 6 TDP in the first half (vs. Buffalo, I think), and that was back in the '60s.

Lamonica should have had a 7th TD pass in the first half of that game against the Bills on 10/19/69. Rookie Drew Buie stepped out of bounds just short of the goal line after hauling in a 37- yard pass on the last play of the 2nd quarter.

The dumbest part of this was Sean Payton subbing Kamara out near the end of the game and having Hill run the ball in for a short-yardage TD...and then later on the Saints wound up at the Vikings goal line again, and Payton let Kamara score his 6th TD. It really should have been 7. Not sure why Payton took Kamara out, only to reinsert him later in the game.

I think some of the offensive numbers from the elite players have been inflated this year due to so many teams not being at full strength. Defensive secondaries have been forced to call up practice squad players and have them start. Aaron Rodgers is a good QB who has played well, but his numbers (especially his TD-INT rate) are otherworldly this season. Its like when Sid Luckman had a huge year during WWII...this 2020 season is similar to that era of the NFL, IMO. Or maybe the last week of 1987 replacement football, when you had some of the regular players back and guys like Brian Brennan were putting up 250 receiving yards against subpar DBs.

The thing is the Vikings could have been salty about the 6th Kamara touchdown. The Saints led 45-33 and the two-minute warning had just occurred prior to Kamara's final touchdown. It was a 1st-and-goal situation and the Vikings had one time out remaining. The Saints did not have to score there. The Saints could have gone into victory formation for four straight plays. The Vikings would have gotten the ball back maybe 91 or 92 yards away from the other end zone and with little time remaining. I'm not sure if the Saints could have run out the clock especially if the Vikings used their final timeout (someone else can do the math) but it would have been close. Those nerds with the expected odds of winning would have given the Vikings a 1% chance of winning at that point.

Instead, Payton decided, "Oh, whoopsie. I should have let Kamara score earlier. Let me try to have him tie the record now. Maybe the Vikings will be a little mad but they beat us in the playoffs two times recently, so I'm doin' it."

You see, I don't think there is much of a chance Payton would have been looking to get Kamara touchdown #7 if Kamara scored touchdown #6 on the drive that ended with the Taysom Hill touchdown.

Don't know about that. If Kamara (or anybody, for that matter) had scored #6 and had an opportunity to go for a 7th, I could see Payton (or just about any other coach) giving his guy every chance to get it. Normally you'd just go into the victory formation, but how often is something like this gonna happen? And from the opposing team's perspective, I don't consider it piling on or running up the score. Hey, it's the defense's job to stop the other team. That's what they're getting paid to do.

BTW---I'm a fairly conservative guy, but I thought Kamara's red and green shoes were very Christmas-y and very cool. And 6 TDs was the real tree-topper.
