NFL players are starting to choose to sit out the 2020 season due to covid after what we have seen happen to the Marlins over the past few days.

Here is the list of the ones so far and I am sure there are more to come.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/295 ... -full-list

Can't say I blame them and if they feel it is in the best interest of their families and for them not to play than they should sit out. Honestly I am really having doubts that the NFL will be able to make it through the entire 2020 season anyway.

Seemingly every hour another Patriots player opts out.

The Patriots going 0-16 to draft Trevor Lawrence is possible.

If an asteroid crashed into the Pats facility leaving on Bill Belichick alive many would consider it a conspiracy.

This is starting to remind me of the old Vietnam War trope:
"Suppose they gave a war and no one came?"

Well, what happens if the NFL declares a season and a large percentage of the players opt out?

What will be the long term effects on teams and the league if there is an entire season with no revenue?
What happens to contracts and "guaranteed" salaries if there is no season?
Will Networks still pay the NFL for games full of "replacement players?" Will anyone watch?
(I know we're still a distance from catastrophe but one can see it on the horizon...)

What if people realized they could get along without the NFL?

I don't think there's much of a worry there, as most other entertainment options are limited. Can't even go to church.

I am catching up on my Barnaby Jones re-runs. Thank God for Me-TV and those channels for some retro escapism.

Will the Patriots be the Golden State Warriors of the NFL? Championship contender with multiple titles that loses key players and suffers major injuries causing a (likely) one-year collapse.

In all seriousness my official prediction for the Patriots will likely be somewhere between 7-9 and 11-5. Where there other people suggesting the Patriots will tank in 2020? Yes.

I don't believe tanking is necessary in the NFL. Any team, if it truly wants to badly enough, can trade into the very top of a draft.

Going back to my sentence and adjusting it slightly,
I believe the Patriots going 11-5 and drafting Trevor Lawrence is more possible than the Patriots purposefully going 0-16 to draft Trevor Lawrence.
