VERY nice, piece, John! Incredibly (at least for me) informative as well! Perhaps they're the most 'obvious' ones, but Tasker, Bauer, and Bill Bates are the first three I think of when thinking of gunners. Never knew of Michael Bates.
My personal favorite, biasedly, is Rick Moser.

May be best special teams player ever. Was every bi as good covering as anyone and also All-Pro level returner.74_75_78_79_ wrote: Michael Bates.

At his peak, if you are drafting an all-time team----he might be #1 on my board.

Great article, John.
Nice to see Alex Hawkins and Mosi Tatupu get some recognition.
Likewise Rich Saul, Jim Jensen, Pete Banaszak and Alvin Haymond; all names I remember from loooong ago.
Fun to see Cowher and Schottenheimer's names pop up... who knew?
Again, I would not put anyone who intentionally injured others on any (positive) list so I would not include Hardy Brown.
Regardless of his stats.

By that standard, Burfict is the worst LB in the league.JuggernautJ wrote:Great article, John.

Surprised Slater is so low, everyone seems to be talking him up as the new Tasker.
