Here they are in order...

1980 - Browns, Eagles*
1981 - Dolphins, Cowboys
1983 - Dolphins, Forty Niners
1984 - Broncos, Redskins
1985 - Dolphins, Rams
1986 - Broncos*, Bears
1987 - Browns, Redskins**
1988 - Bills, Forty Niners**
1989 - Browns, Giants

** - Super Bowl winner
* - Super Bowl participant

Got a sneaking suspicion that one of the squads from '89 will be a unanimous #18!

There are the '85 Rams, who finished 11-5 with Dieter Brock at QB, but were inconsistent, especially after starting out 7-0. They made the playoffs on the strength of Dickerson's legs and a strong defense.

Here's mine...

1) - '88 Forty Niners
2) - '81 Cowboys
3) - '88 Bills
4) - '87 Redskins
5) - '86 Broncos
6) - '86 Bears
7) - '80 Eagles
8) - '83 Dolphins
9) - '87 Browns
10) - '83 Forty Niners
11) - '84 Broncos
12) - '89 Giants
13) - '81 Dolphins
14) - '84 Redskins
15) - '80 Browns
16) - '85 Dolphins
17) - '85 Rams
18) - '89 Browns

Once the 6-5 start was out the way, have to give #1 to whom I give it to. Especially the playoffs where you may as well say they were now, already the 1989 version (clock struck January)! As for SF's 1983 installment? I almost left them off this list. They were too bipolar! Perhaps I should have ranked them quite higher; or a few spots lower.

I didn't want to place '85 Rams as low, but can't really place them above the others (maybe '85 Dolphins who had even less a defense by then). Maybe I have '87 Redskins too high; maybe I have '83 Dolphins (arguably Shula's post-'73 best) too low.
