The Pats will host the Sunday Night opener. Their opponent will be one of their division foes, Pittsburgh or Cleveland, Kansas City, Dallas or Philadelphia. I'm guessing it will not be one of the other AFC East teams, and probably not Pittsburgh without Bell and Brown. If I were a betting man, my money would be on Kansas City or Dallas as their opponent.

The Bears are at home so "if I were a betting man" I think I'd favor them.
And the Pats at home, likewise.

But Patriots/Chiefs would be a heck of a way to open the AFC race.

The Bear led the series for more than 80 (80!) years, from the second meeting of the 1933 seasons (when a Bear win in Chicago put them in a 12-11-4 lead) until the first meeting of 2017 (when a Packer win in Green Bay pushed them to a 95-94-6 series advantage).

The Bears held a 23-game advantage in this series as late as 1993.

I remember thinking the same thing as a 49ers fan in the early 1980's concerning the Rams.

Interesting how the Arizona Cardinals get shafted here. They don't have the feel of being one of the originals. They're in their 3rd city. They ruined their classic uniform look. For decades they operated in anonymity. Rarely any good but never bad enough to be a nationwide laughingstock. They were just always kind of...there. Part of the furniture. But they were right there with Decatur when this thing got started.

I had read that Canton, Ohio, was lobbying for an NFL regular season game to be played at the stadium on Thursday night, September 17, 2020-- in addition to the preseason Hall of Fame game. I would hope that that one would be the Bears and the Cards, though that's probably as likely as Rock Island.

That's what having two hall of fame qb's right in a row will do to a franchise. That and the Bears have never been a franchise that has had consistently great qb play (unless you want to go back to the stone ages).

My guesses also for the Patriots' opponent is either Dallas, KC or Pitt. Maybe the Giants, too? Because of the NY/Boston rivalry.

I have no problem with CHI/GB opening the season. I also never thought the Pack would take the all-time series lead. Should be an entertaining opener with Rodgers back, the Bears off a successful year, Matt LaFleur as the new Packers coach, etc.

I never thought the Steelers would take the all-time series lead from the Browns either... but father time has its way I guess.
