They're scheduled to kick off next week, aren't they? I know their schedule runs from February to May.

I'm looking forward to it. I'm all in favor of anything that gives more players a chance at a paycheck.

i checked my DVR for upcoming events, and it has the San Diego - San Antonio game from 8:30 to 9:45 and Orlando - Atlanta from 9:45 to 11, all times Eastern. I guess this means they'll either show half of one game and half of the other, or they'll move back and forth between both games, my guess is the latter.

I have a feeling the NFl is aligning itself with this league to help put the kibosh on Vince McMahon's potential new league. Not that they would be afraid of a potential new XFL but I would imagine they would feel that McMahon wouldn't be respectful to the game of football (especially in this new age where trying to make the game safer is a real issue).

They remember all too well the travesty that was the XFL. In addition, I'm sure scouts from some of the NFL teams will be at next week's AAF games to scout talent, and the NFL is curious about this league as the AAF hasn't yet tried to sign NFL stars or sign the top college players like the USFL did when they started up. I think the NFL will, at first, welcome a competitor that doesn't attempt to take a bite out of their bottom line.

The AAF is not competing with the NFL. If they were, NFL Network would not be televising some of the games.

Hopefully, this league works. The NBA has a developmental league and MLB and NHL have minor leagues. I don't see why the NFL cannot have something work like those other sports.

I do like how the AAF will have no kickoffs (and onside kicks) and no extra point kicks. This league will be good for some experiments.

Why not eliminate punts also and make teams go for it on fourth down. They could also rename the game
Footless Ball.

Punts are actually fun plays. Kickoffs are becoming tiring due to the amount of touchbacks and penalties. What was the percentage of kickoffs that ended with a touchback or penalty in 2018? I'm sure it is absurd.
