Unexpected meaningful matchups

Post by CSKreager »

This is the opposite of 74/75/78/79’s “Great, unexpected meaningful matchups.”

Here, I’m thinking of the opposite

‘89 Chiefs/Packers, ‘97 Buccaneers/Giants, Bears/49ers 2001 jump out for me- teams not expected to be a factor and their matchup turned out to be more important than when the schedule came out.

Or games we thought would be bad but were not

How about the first game of this season in which the Browns and Steelers played to a tie?
That game, a supposed easy win for Pittsburgh, cost the Steelers a play-off spot (and gave one to Baltimore).
