At least Seattle is getting an XFL team. Picked a good time to announce it, too. The day after it became officially we were getting a NHL team. XFL kind of got lost in that.

Still feels odd to me the NBA hasn't returned.

The MSN report said that "the league plans to be financed by a combination of private funding and public offerings in 2019.” "Public offerings"? Sounds like what happens when the collection plate is passed around on Sunday morning.

A couple of comments regarding the FFL vs AAF & XFL


First of all did anyone tell the FFL that the XFL and AAF already have multiple year stadiums deals in St. Louis, San Diego, Birmingham, Texas, and Florida ? So where are 5 of those 10 FFL teams going to play ?

They are talking about starting in 2020 winter/spring season. Latest word is they are now looking for investors to fund this thing. Funny they would bother to name 10 cites when they have not lined up investors yet. A couple of things different about this effort. They say all 10 teams owned individually no central ownership like the AAF and XFL are doing. AAF and XFL are trying to be friendly towards NFL saying they want to be a feeder leagues. This FFL calls the NFL racist and slaveholders so they are going a different route. I still question anyone wants a football league that says its main purpose is to be political.

Especially when Seattle is a basketball city. Not just producing players but it's what Seattle cares about. Down at the HS level the Metro League (Seattle schools) is a huge deal and always in argument for best HS basketball league in the country. Produced the national champions two years ago and the national player of the year. Majority of the rest of the state -save for pockets here and there- doesn't care or doesn't care much about HS basketball, they're waiting for Januarary's classification announcements so they can know who they're playing against in football next year. Seattle also cares about HS football but much less than rest of the state and much less than basketball.

We have pickup games filling up gyms all summer, that's what people in Seattle do, watch basketball.

Ricky Williams the founder of this thing just did a TV interview.
He was asked given the NFL already exists, the AAF is starting in 2019, and the XFL in 2020, is their room for a 4th league?
Williams responded "Our league isn't a league but a movement"
Then asked what would be different from the NFL stated the 10 teams will be owned by fans who can buy stock in individual teams. If the team makes money so will you. Additionally he added while the NFL has a ban on marijuana the FFL will not. Williams went on to add that during his playing days he found the use of marijuana very helpful to his career.

I agree ! I think this effort is DOA. First off they name teams in Orlando, Birmingham, San Antonio, San Diego, and St. Louis out of their 10 teams. Well 4 of those cities have 3 year deals for stadium usage with the AAF starting in 2019. St. Louis dome signed a deal with the XFL for starting in 2020. Amazing they don't already know that 5 of their 10 cities the football stadiums are locked with other 2 leagues. Secondly. Ricky Williams talking about this being a movement rather then a football league with players smoking marijuana before the games comes off as crazy. They say they are going to sell shares to fans in each of the 10 cities plus look for investors in 2019... Think this maybe the dumbest effort yet for a spring league.
