Most historically looked-at offenses didn’t win championships yet alone make their title game; and to quite a few of those which did, they ended up getting blown out. A few, however, did go all the way.

A few obvious candidates I can see making everyone’s list, but what less-likely ones show up on some? Perhaps some offenses that were more run-oriented, or ones overshadowed by their respective defenses.

They weren't overshadowed by their defense but are somewhat forgotten...1951 Rams averaged 6.7 yards per play on offense, which might be a record. They led the NFL in yards per pass attempt and yards per rush attempt, and averaged 32.7 ppg.

I thought of them also; quite similar to the ’99 Rams, offense not overshadowed by defense either.

I’m thinking ’90s Cowboys & Broncos making the cut with me.

The 1994 49ers and the 2009 Saints.

The 1977 Dallas Cowboys (who also had the top defense) come to mind

I probably shouldn’t have made this a top-5 considering just how many great championship offenses there truly are. It’s pretty tough. I’m going to name more than five and let someone else decide which ones get left out, or what offense(s) should be listed instead.

’41 Bears
Late-’40s/’50/’54/’55 Browns
’60s Packers
’79 Steelers
’89 Forty Niners
’92/’93 Cowboys
’97/’98 Broncos

The 1971 Cowboys had the number 1 offense and the number 7 defense (#3 in yards allowed) in the year Landry finally "won the big one."

While perhaps not as statistically as dominant as the Dallas offense (in this season) I wouldn't overlook the original "Doomsday Defense."

This is the big issue with a thread such as this. The numbers of the 1977 Cowboys would be considered mediocre by today'd standards, but they were head and shoulders above everyone else in 1977, football's "Year of the Pitcher."

The 1931 Packers scored 291 points, 20.8 per game. That doesn't sound like much now, but the second highest scoring team, only scored 175 points. With 84 points, Johnny Blood outscored 5 of the league's 10 teams that season.
