What two-year NYJ installment do you think was better?

Re: ’81/’82 vs ’85/’86 Jets
In terms of the former, I lean towards the 82 Jets for winning a couple playoff games and making it to the AFC Championship. Also note solid seasons from the 'triplets' of Richard Todd, Freeman McNeil and Wesley Walker.
From the standpoint of the latter, I go with 1985 for being more consistent (11 wins and no 5 game skid to end the season), while Ken O'Brien had one of this finer seasons (25 touchdown passes and only 8 interceptions) and Freeman McNeil continued to play at a high level.

Re: ’81/’82 vs ’85/’86 Jets
Discarding their final 5 games (each one a lopsided loss) is a huge thing to discard, but I’d say the ’86 Jets squad that started 10-1, which they became again once the playoffs began (coming razor-close to beating 12-4 Browns in the Pound), was NYJ at their ’80s peak. Walt Michaels was a better HC than Walton though, and I would have liked to have seen him as a HC second time around in the NFL.
My personal choice is ’81/’82; seeing them, in ’81, rally all the way to that 10-5-1 wildcard spot. They were too good to go one-and-done; but so was Buffalo, so someone had to lose. At least they won playoff games (both of them roadies) in ’82, but unlike the year before were not able to beat Miami even once. Really wanted them to play (and beat) Wash that year.
Marion Barber Jr (MBIII’s father) was on those Jets teams. Was he a fullback or a (Freeman’s) backup halfback?

1981 featured an absolutely monstrous pass rush. They had 66 sacks that year. Todd finally started to look like a legitimate pro QB and cut down on his picks
After Wesley Walker we had very little to scare you with in terms of receivers.
In typical Jets fashion the wheels came off that Buffalo game early at Shea and just sucked the life out of that place which was absolutely raucous and shaking when the Jets mounted their comeback. Too little, too late
If the 86 Jets didn't "Same ol Jets" up the Cleveland game I believe they beat Denver.
