Hey Guys,
Does anyone know why the Kansas City Chiefs began their 1969 AFL regular season with four straight road games? Any idea as to the reason(s) for this?

At first, I thought it might be related to the Mets/Jets issue with Shea Stadium. It was baseball-related, though the expansion Royals decided to schedule three Sunday home games in September. Unsure why they played on the road on 10/5, with Muni open.

In 1973, the Browns played five straight home games--the second week of that stretch was supposed to be in Cincy, but since the Reds and Mets were in the NLCS in Cincy, a switch was made. Two weeks later, the Jets lost a home game and played in Pittsburgh because the Mets were in the WS.

One of the little-noted aspect of the Packers' three consecutive championships, 1929-31, is that they began each season with a string of home games and finished each one with a very long road trip.

In 1929, when they went 12-0-1, they opened with five home games and played the final eight on the road. In 1930 (10-3-1), they played 6 of their first 7 games at home and finished with a string of 7 road games. In 1931 (12-2-0), they finally had more home games than road games, but they finished with five straight games away from home.

I would feel sorry for anyone who was betting that the Royals would play a post-season game during that first year...
