What was the weekly highlight show for the 1979 season? I am wanting to try and track down the episodes for a Paydirt boardgame replay I am hoping to start.

NFL Films had their weekly highlight program "This is the NFL", which was a 30-minute show narrated by Harry Kalas.JohnBowen wrote:What was the weekly highlight show for the 1979 season? I am wanting to try and track down the episodes for a Paydirt boardgame replay I am hoping to start.
I recall seeing it in 1978, though the following year, they added "great games" to the package.Retro Rider wrote:Does anyone remember a weekly 30 minute NFL Films program called Great Teams, Great Years hosted by Pat Summerall? I distinctly remember watching episodes in the summer & fall of 1979. They usually aired on Sunday afternoons or Sunday nights after the local 11:00pm news. Summerall would introduce old highlight films like the '66 Cowboys or the '68 Jets as well as past GOTW programs such as the '69 Saints @ Cardinals shootout. They even devoted an episode to Tom Matte's heroics in the '65 Playoff Bowl. It was great stuff ... classic NFL highlights syndicated on free tv. What a concept!
