HoF Linebacking Corps

Post by JuggernautJ »

I was looking at Linebacking Corps that had two Hall of Famers playing together:
Chiefs: Lanier and Bell (Lynch)
Giants: Taylor and Carson (Reasons/Banks)
Steelers: Ham and Lambert (Russell/Toews)
Packers: Robinson and Nitschke (Forester/Caffey)
Bears: Conner/George (Fortunato)

Who am I missing?
Who do I have wrong?
Any comments or observations?

And what about Redskins: Hanburger and Robinson (plus Myron Pottios/Harold McLinton)

There are also few HOF and HOVG who have played together, but what about:

Colts (Hendricks and Curtis)
Redskins (Hanburger and Curtis)

Eventually, we could have: Saints (Jackson and Mills) and Bears (Singletary and Marshall).

There are mostly forgotten now, but Brad Van Pelt and Brian Kelley also were very good linebackers before Banks and Reasons arrived.

Good one and Tank McLinton was a favorite player of mine growing up.

I had forgotten about Huff and Hanburger and didn't know about Hanburger and Robinson. Thanks.
Mike Curtis (perhaps amazingly) isn't in the Hall of Fame.

So we have:
Chiefs: Lanier and Bell (Lynch)
Giants: Taylor and Carson (Reasons/Banks)
Steelers: Ham and Lambert (Russell/Toews)
Packers: Robinson and Nitschke (Forester/Caffey)
Bears: Conner/George (Fortunato)
Redskins: Huff/Hanburger and Hanburger/Robinson (and a bunch of guys...)

In the interest of generating a little LB discussion:
Who were the best pair of HoF LBs?
Which pair played as a part of the best over-all unit?

Its hard to argue with the L.T. + anybody school but the Steelers and Packers had more championships (and sustained greatness).
If I am not mistaken only the Bears and Redskins pairings didn't win a championship.

I know... but he's still not in the Hall of Fame (sadly).

In another (favorite) clip somewhere Curtis comments on how much he misses the opportunity that existed on a football field to immediately settle any personal difficulties encountered, man to man. And laments that is not the case in the business world.
I've got to say I've felt that way on more than one occasion.

So you've had an urge to clothesline some interloper in a meeting?
