No point in doing ten at a time after all, I think. I'd rather not wait. I'm sure most of you'll agree. Changing it from the original #00-#91 to ALL jersey numbers, single-zero included which, again, I never knew there was.

#99 quite tough! I'm sure if NFL Network was doing this it'd be Sapp unanimously. Of course a very notable candidate but not at all the only one when there's Jason Taylor, Gastineau, Dan Hampton, and had Jerome Brown's career not been cut short, perhaps he'd be tops.

Funny you should start this thread. I got a book last Christmas called Any Given Number. It's pretty good. Not great. A coffee table type book published by SI in which they go through 00 to 99 and pick the best ever in all of sports at each number.... with some entertaining discussion for some "controversial choices". Elway or Mantle for 7? Musial or Russell for 6? Brown or Magic for 32? Anyway... there were a few numbers that they picked a football player and I said to myself, he's not even the best NFL player ever at that number! (IMO) 61 and 89 come to mind. So I decided to create my own NFL only 00-99 list.
I'll PM it to anyone interested!

For the numbers mentioned so far, I've got...
00 - Otto
1 - Moon
99 - Taylor. I think J.J. Watt is already in 2nd place over Hampton/Sapp/Gastineau

^^^ Yeah I've been slowly chipping away at team lists.
So... here's my 00 through 91 to follow the intent of your OP...
00 - Jim Otto
99 - Jason Taylor
98 - Robert Mathis <--- the book I mentioned earlier picks Casey Hampton.
97 - Simeon Rice
96 - Cortez Kennedy
95 - Richard Dent
94 - DeMarcus Ware
93 - John Randle
92 - Reggie White <--- there shouldn't be any dispute on this one!
91 - Kevin Greene
It seems as though nobody wore a number in the 90s before the late 1970s.... with the exception of AAFC defensive backs who's numbers carried over to the NFL. The AAFC had an interesting numbering system that I have seen written down somewhere but can't find right now. QBs in the 60s, running backs in the 70s, DBs in the 90s. This is why Otto Graham and Frankie Albert wore 60 and 63 respectively in the early part of their NFL careers.

My vote for #90 is Julius Peppers
though I recall Derrick Thomas wore 90 for a period of time too. Not sure how long it was...
