NFL 100th Anniversary Team possibilites
Who are the ones who will get support to add to the 75th Anniversary Teams
I looked for an earlier thead, but must have missed it
But in 3 years a new team...there will maybe be changes to those from 75th and 50th team, but essentially we are talking from 1994 to present
QB-Brady, Manning
RB-Emmitt
WR-maybe Moss
TE-Tony Gonzales
T-Ogden, Walter Jones, Joe Thomas...possible will get votes
G-Larry Allen
C- not seeing anyone of a few jumping out
DE-Bruce Smith and maybe JJ Watt if Watt comes back and has 3 good years
DT-I think if they go with 4 it would be previous 3 plus Alan Page. Sapp does not look to me to be an All-timer
LB- Ray Lewis
OLB-Derrick Brooks
CB- CWoodson, maybe...
S-Ed Reed
That is for openers, others?

Any chance they'll add kickers, punters, special teamer and return specialist?

I left them out because I hadn't looked at it. I think Devin Hester will be added as returner. They could add a STer, like Tasker.
Stenerud was only kicker, suppose Morten, now in HOF will be new
Punter---since 1994? hmm....lots of great ones in greatest era for punters (40 yard net it average) but no one is a cut above that would really be eligble. Hekker is the all time leader, the best of the best in net yards, TB to in 20 ratios, etc. but by 2020 he will have only 8 years in NFL...
I imagine Ray Guy will stay the punter, if they added 2nd...could be any one of a few guys would be my guess

Wasn't sure if they had the kicker and punter in there. Thanks

Barry Sanders should be a lock for the 100th Anniversary All-Time Team. I also think Deion Sanders, Junior Seau, and Derrick Thomas had careers worthy of the team.

Seau and both Sanders, good calls...Thomas, I don't see it.Andrew McKillop wrote:Barry Sanders should be a lock for the 100th Anniversary All-Time Team. I also think Deion Sanders, Junior Seau, and Derrick Thomas had careers worthy of the team.

Can't get behind Seau or Thomas, but the other two are good candidates.

Re: NFL 100th Anniversary Team possibilites
Here is something I wrote about the 75 year team:
"I'd expect the player era distribution to be uniformly distributed throughout the 75 years with a slight fall off towards the end i.e. less players who were active at the time of selection, but it isn't. It almost looks like a 35 year team with most players from 1960 and later. There are no players from the 20s; while only Nagurski, Hein, Hutson, Baugh, Van Buren, Graham and Motley suited up during the 30s and 40s."
If the trend continues, the team will be skewed towards players who played after 1985. I won't predict the changes to be that extreme, but I also won't be surprised to see players from the earlier time periods drop off. I posted the 50 year team recently and Thorpe, Hirsch, Mackey, Hubbard, J Kramer, Bednarik, Groza, Nomellini, Tunnell, Van Brocklin, Perry, Grange, McElhenny, Lavelli, R Kramer, Dowler, Moore, Nevers, Strong, Stydahar, Fortmann, Wojciechowicz, Schmidt, Turner, Ford, Donovan, Stautner, Adderley, Butler, and Christiansen all dropped off. I know Jim Thorpe's best years were technically in the 10s, but if he can drop off, I don't think any of the old timers are safe
