Obviously trying to boost his Hall candidacy. I just don't see it, I see him as a rich-man's Chuck Cecil.

I've said it before, but also never saw Lynch as a HOF'er. Was never a time during his career when I thought, HOF.
However, I guess it's only been partially surprising he's been in the conversation. Sort of like not being surprised every year when he would get another gift Pro Bowl selection.

They ought to use some space for Ronde Barber. He had a stellar run with Tampa Bay also.

He was a good and sometimes very good player. But never a game changer, never feared Just solid, steady, and a valuable asset on that Tampa defense.
Also stuck around forever which helps. But I never thought he was any better than say Victor Green

John Lynch (3/9/none) strikes me as a plausible second tier level HoFer -- definitely a big hall sort. He's one of those folks where I'm fine if he gets in but won't consider it the grossest of injustices if he's left out.

I discount Pro Bowls in this Era, Safety's with 3 All Pros who I prefer include:
Joey Browner
Devon Cherry
Dick Anderson
Cliff Harris
Jimmy Patton
And recently
Dawkins
Reed
Polamalu

Mostly agree (not so taken with Anderson's 3/3/70s profile which is little short for me), but that doesn't mean I'll complain if Lynch gets in. He's a finalist now, which otherwise only Dawkins is. And other than Reed and Polamalu, the rest are Senior eligible, which likely means they get their chance when hell freezes over. Throwing Lynch in the Senior pool, which he's in no danger of hitting so far, would just clog it up worse.
