As a 49ers fan I'm disappointed and continue to be so with this organization. Lynch seems like a great guy and well educated. However he has no front office experience. This just doesn't seem like a logical move at all. The only good thing I could see coming from this hire is that Lynch was someone Shanahan felt really comfortable with. They're both going to be signed to six year deals. On the other hand this could be Jed York and Paragg Marathe essentially wanting a yes-man that won't question the system they have in place. Who knows.

That was exactly what I thought when I saw the headline.
Wonderful.

Is it any wonder McDaniels turned "us" down?

Pretty sure everyone thought "Matt Millen".

Former players like Lake Dawson should get out of scouting and instead get in the booth for FOX since evidently that's the way to get a GM job - at least with dysfunctional franchises. So go work for FOX and do that for say, the next nine years, then become a GM.

The crowning achievement of Matt Millen's career took place as the teams were leaving the field and funneling into the tunnel leading to the locker rooms. Millen swung his helmet and tried to "crown" Patriots' GM Pat Sullivan. The clip was iconicized by the fact that none of the Patriots acted in defense of Sullivan and it even appeared as though some moved to give Millen a better swing.
John Lynch is not of that ilk nor is he that stupid. Why not give him a chance to see what a clear mind and a level head can do?
Henry Ford had no experience running a business but he sure knew how to make cars.
