Super Bowl VIII question
Why was it played in Rice Stadium and not the Astrodome?

Rice seated 70,000(?), compared to just 50,000 for the Astrodome. Super Bowl IX was supposed to be at the Superdome, but construction delays pushed back completion of it.

I doubt the Owls ever drew close to 70000 for one of their games.
