Is a new Forty Niner Dynasty on the way?

We all know what happened the last time a HC got fired after only one season (winning 5 games albeit 5-9 as opposed to 5-11) and then the very next year the succeeding HC gets fired after that (2-win) season as well. Granted, McCulley (succeeding Meyer) won just one of the two games in '78 being he was fired after 9 games (Fred O'Connor replacing him as interim) whereas Chip Kelly HC'd entire '16 campaign, but still.

Most likely Kelly isn't cut for being a HC in the NFL but I just can't help but to think the jury may still be out (and perhaps stay out). Two 10-6 campaigns to start things off in Philly, then one bad year and he's out, then one bad year in SF with an already-bad team then that's it. I'm not going to get up on a soap-box for the guy but I'm still not fully sold that he's not NFL material. Thoughts?

Sure it is!
That's exactly what happens next.... from total suckage to dynasty... just ask the Brownies...

Didn't the guy before Kelley just get 1 year? 49ers wont be dynastying any time soon with that roster on O and the QB woes.

Who was the last team to have back-to-back one-year coaches?

I'm sorry... I saw the title of this thread and almost fainted. ;) Past parallels to the late 70s aside, this team has a waaaaays to go.

Setting the record straight, I do not personally forsee another SF Dynasty coming, especially with Eddie not at helm (then again, no one saw it coming after '78 yet alone after '80; moves like the OJ & Plunkett ones usually set a team back for years). I was simply giving nod to the '77 & '78/'15 & '16 parallel along with my own take on Chip Kelly.

Acquiring Plunkett didn't set the Raiders back and that was four years after he joined the 49ers. Remember that Jimmy was still a relatively young QB in 1976 even though he took a lot of physical pounding in his five years as a Patriot.
