QB, kicker or punter called for unnecessary roughness

On Nov. 22, 1982 on Monday Night Football, Dan Fouts of San Diego was called for a personal foul for unnecessary roughness for diving head-first and spearing a Raider who was laying on the turf after just recovering a fumble.

Any other anecdotal memories of players not known for hitting (such as quarterback, kicker or punter) acting as the tough guy and getting flagged for unnecessary roughness? Just wondering. Thanks!

Archie Manning shoved a referee on 10/3/76 and was fined for it. He didn't even play that season.

Anyone remember or know where there's footage of this brawl? I'm guessing NFL Films probably left it out of their weekly highlights and annual team highlights.

From the Sporting News 1977 NFL Guide:

10-3-76 Houston 31, New Orleans 26

"There were varying accounts on what started the fight. According to one version, it began with a scuffle between Houston LB Ted Washington and New Orleans RB Tony Galbreath.

"Other onlookers said the trouble started when Houston DB Zeke Moore threw an elbow that hit WR Tinker Owens of New Orleans in the eye socket. Owens suffered facial cuts and had to be carried off the field on a stretcher.

Moore was ejected, along with Archie Manning and Paul Seal of the Saints. Manning wasn't even in the game, but reportedly pushed an official during the fracas."

The spark between Moore and Owens was ignited the play before, when Moore pushed Owens out of bounds--which led to some jawing from both players.

While it's not exactly an unbiased opinion, the Saints Don Herrmann said after the game that Moore had also poked him in the eye and hit Mike Strachan late.
