I don't remember where I read it,but did Vince Lombardi consider trading Ray Nitschke for the rights to draft Tommy Nobis?

It wouldn't surprise me. In 1966, Lombardi felt that his assistant, Norb Hecker, wasn't ready to be a HC (I think that Lombardi was thinking about taking the Atlanta job). However, the Falcons hired Norb anyway.

Not sure that Lombardi was considering taking it, though his name was prominently mentioned--as was Paul Brown's.
