Who wins had Niners averted Rote's rally one week prior?

The Lions beat the Browns by 45 and the 49ers by 4. The Browns had an ailing Tommy O'Connell and rookie Milt Plum at QB. The 49ers had Tittle. The Browns had a rookie named Brown in the backfield but the 49ers had two HoFers in the King and the Jet.

You do the math.

What about Browns vs. Colts? Colts led the division with two games to go. Lost their last two, but maybe a early season home loss to the Packers hurt more. Had a better point differential than the Lions or the 49ers.

I was going to ask that as well. Should have simply titled this thread, "'57 NFL post-season and hypotheticals". Colts win that finale, they get the 'bye' out of the -
which would have been - three 8-4 Western teams; then host the Det/SF winner the following week. No reason to feel a Lions/Niners 'semifinal' at Kesar would have had a different result. How does Lions/Colts Western championship turn out? As they did with Niners, Colts spilt with Lions as well - walloping them at home in the opener. And how does Paul Brown go about preparing his troops in the - not two - but three weeks before playing another game? The first two of those weeks without even knowing who or where his team will be playing.

Browns and Colts should have also been the '58 game.
